With the Level IV: Personal Protection Officer (PPO)

Texas Level IV Personal Protection Officer Course — Elite Track Beyond the Minimum. Built for the Field. Texas DPS requires a minimum of 15 classroom hours to earn your Level IV Personal Protection Officer certification — the state's mandated course covering roles and responsibilities, defensive tactics, use of force, risk management, and emergency response. Our Elite Track meets every one of those requirements and then keeps going, delivering 24 hours in 3 days of instruction built around how principals are actually protected in the real world. Texas Department of Public Safety Guard Card Education https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/private-security/training-and-continuing-education Who This Is For Commissioned officers holding a valid Level III license who are ready to move beyond standard guard work into executive and close protection. This is a serious credentialing path for people who intend to work — not a weekend certificate mill. What Sets This Program Apart Extended Curriculum (24 hours vs. the 15-hour minimum): State-mandated topics are taught in depth rather than rushed through a single classroom day, with added modules on advance work, route planning, venue assessment, and protective intelligence. Scenario-Based Training: Live, force-on-force protective details — vehicle embus/debus drills, room clearing for principals, hostile surveillance detection, and crowd/press management — run by instructors with actual EP (executive protection) field experience. Medical Readiness: Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC)-informed first aid, trauma kit deployment, and mass-casualty response, well beyond the basic first-aid overview required by DPS. Communications & Team Operations: Radio discipline, formations, and coordination for multi-agent details, covering how real protective teams operate rather than solo guard postures. Legal & Liability Deep Dive: Use-of-force law, Texas Private Security Act compliance, and civil liability exposure specific to the PPO role, taught by instructors versed in Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1702. Client Management & Professionalism: Discretion, confidentiality, protocol, and the soft skills that distinguish a hired professional from a hired hand — critical for principals ranging from corporate executives to high-net-worth families. Capstone Evaluation: A practical assessment simulating a real protective detail from advance to departure, evaluated by senior instructors before certification is issued. Outcome Graduates leave with their DPS-required Level IV certificate of completion — the document needed for PPO licensing through Texas TOPS — but also with the practical readiness employers in the executive protection industry actually screen for.
