Texas Certified Security Officer Training

Texas security professionals may work in a wide range of private security environments, including commercial properties, residential communities, events, businesses and other facilities.

This course provides foundational security knowledge for individuals developing their professional skills.

It is professional training, not a substitute for any licence, registration or state-mandated course. Confirm current Texas requirements before relying on course completion for a licensing purpose.

Texas Security Guard Training Online

Online security guard training provides flexible access to security education without requiring participants to attend a traditional classroom.

Participants can access course materials remotely and progress through the training at their own pace.

Texas DPS Security Officer Course

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) licenses private security officers in Texas through its Level II, Level III and Level IV programs.

Certified Security Officer Training is professional development training and is not a DPS licensing course. If you need a Texas security officer licence, see our Level II: Unarmed Private Security and Level III: Armed Private Security courses.

Texas Private Security Bureau Training

The Texas Private Security Bureau, part of DPS, regulates private security licensing and the training required for each licence level.

This course does not replace those requirements. It builds the foundational knowledge that supports professional security work and complements any state-required training you complete.

Level II Security Officer Training Texas

Level II is the Texas non-commissioned (unarmed) security officer training level set by DPS. This Certified Security Officer course is not the Level II course. Texas applicants who need Level II should enrol in our Level II: Unarmed Private Security course.

Texas Security Officer License Course

Training and licensing are separate steps. Completing this course earns a Certificate of Completion that documents your training; it does not itself issue a Texas security officer licence.

Licence applications, registrations, examinations and any required state-approved courses are handled through DPS.

Texas Guard Card Certification

"Guard card" is an informal term some people use for a state security officer licence. This course awards a Certificate of Completion, not a state licence. It documents your professional training and complements any licensing steps you complete through DPS.
